WebSeems like the shelf itself is too shallow and the brackets are hitting the inner face of the shelf… I’d say either cut the brackets shorter (make sure the threaded hole for the set screw that goes in the bottom isn’t going to get cut off in that process) —- or preferably just a bead of caulking around if you don’t mind touch up work when removing in the future.
